Twenty-eight years in the United States Army. Retired at Sergeant Major. Then a second career doing the thing he'd been doing in the margins the whole time — writing songs and playing them for anybody who'd sit still.

Six singles have gone to Texas independent radio, each holding airplay for twenty weeks or longer, with "How Can I Miss Her" peaking at No. 2. Streams across Spotify, Apple Music, Pandora, iHeart, Amazon and YouTube total more than 225,000.

The stripes come in handy on stage, too. Travis works a crowd the way a good sergeant major works a formation — he can read a room in about thirty seconds and knows exactly who's not having a good time yet.
